I love Providence...
So Micaela, Maggie and I moved to Providence in July so Micaela could start her internal medicine residency at Brown. (First New Haven, now Providence? I wonder if anyone has figured out we pick cities to live in by their proximaty to Cornell hockey. :) Anyway, we couldn't close on the house in Meriden in time to buy in Providence, so we ended up renting in an up/down duplex on the east side. We're one block off of Hope Street which has a great little stretch of to-the-street shops and restaurants.Today, Micaela had long call at the hospital (6a-10p) so it was just me and Maggie. We got up and went out to breakfast. Then I stopped in to get a haircut before we went to the farmers market at Hope High to buy some locally grown food, including greens from City Farm. Then on the way home, we stopped for a lemonade and a cookie at a local cafe.Sounds like a great Saturday morning, right? The best part? We did it all on foot with the stroller, no car required.
I can't ever see living a big city like Beeeej or Molly, but the new urbanists are absolutely right, walkable cites are what create community.
