Apparently, I'm a geo-green.

So it turns out that Tom Friedman has a name for people like me. From his column this week, it appears that I'd fall squarely into the groups of people he calls geo-greens. In his words,

Geo-greens seek to combine into a single political movement environmentalists who want to reduce fossil fuels that cause climate change, evangelicals who want to protect God's green earth and all his creations, and geo-strategists who want to reduce our dependence on crude oil because it fuels some of the worst regimes in the world.

Frankly, the evangelical angle doesn't speak to me, but there certainly is room under this tent for everyone. After all, if David Brooks is right and the evangelicals can look past the culture war to work with the left to address issues like poverty and hunger, maybe regular Americans can make a difference after all. As Brooks astutely points out, "You don't have to convert people; sometimes you can just work with them."

A quick google search shows that this isn't the first time Friedman has talked about the geo-green concept. Here's an article I missed back in March.
